What is coaching?
When most people think about a personal trainer, they picture someone on the gym floor who provides workout routines and perhaps some nutrition advice, usually with a focus on aesthetic or performance goals. And that’s absolutely part of the role — as a soon-to-be Personal Trainer, I’m excited to help people work toward these goals.
The reality is that most people who hire a personal trainer already know what they should do to reach their goals. With so much information available, we understand that moving more and eating a balanced, whole-food diet is beneficial.
The real challenge is putting that knowledge into practice and finding ways to make healthy habits work within your own life. This is where coaching comes in.
Coaching supports individuals in identifying their own strengths and solutions through supportive, guided conversation. Read on to learn more.
Coaching Approach
Coaching is grounded in compassion, acceptance, partnership, and curiosity.
It provides a non-judgmental space to explore your perspectives and motivations, recognising that you are the expert in your own life.
My favourite part of my leadership and student support roles has been using coaching models and frameworks to help individuals achieve their best.
And don’t worry if this sounds intense — it simply means I’m experienced in asking the right questions and listening carefully to help guide you toward positive solutions.
Beyond the Gym Floor
All of this is to say that when you hire me as your personal trainer and coach, you receive far more than a workout plan.
I support you across a broad range of health and lifestyle goals, helping you identify barriers in your way and the resources you already have to overcome them.
I really do believe that with the right Personal Trainer by your side, you can see positive changes in any aspect of your health
Coaching conversations are not a replacement for professional mental health support. If challenges arise that require qualified mental health care, I will signpost you to appropriate professional resources.
